On the first anniversary of the tragic death of Bill Muller, East Cornwall Harriers are arranging an informal memorial run in Cardinham Woods. The proposed date is 26th February at 10:30 a.m., subject to confirmation by the Forestry Commission. The trails in these woods were a favourite training area for Bill and we have set a course of approximately 10km around them. The exact route may be changed, depending on possible forestry activities. There are opportunities to do a shortened course, or multiple laps if you wish to get in some extra distance.
There is parking space for about 40 cars and a Forestry Commission woodland maintenance parking charge of £2.00 per car; so it would be sensible to share cars wherever possible. There could also be a small charge by the Forestry Commission for each entrant of no more than £1.00. There will be no entry fee made by East Cornwall Harriers.
There is a small tearoom in the car park, which serves drinks and snacks and, if so inclined in February, there are several picnic tables around. There are also male, female and disabled toilets in the car park.
This is a non-permitted informal run, similar to the Brown Willey Run, so everyone is responsible for their own safety.
We shall confirm the details by email to all local Running Clubs in the near future. This date has been chosen, as it is the date of Bill’s funeral, just up the road, and it doesn’t appear to conflict with any other organized running events in the area.
We would love to see as many of you as possible to honour the memory of a Great Guy and, if successful, it could become an annual event.
