Thank you to everyone who took part in the memorial run for Bill, and especially to Alan and Meggie who worked so hard to organise it.  It was great to see everyone again, and thanks for all the hugs and kisses.

There are many new faces within the club, at least new to me, but I hope to get to know some of you in the future.  Once I retire, I shall be free to come along again on a Tuesday night.  (Be warned!!)

Best wishes

Sylvia

View Article  BILL MULLER MEMORIAL RUN - SUNDAY 26TH FEBRUARY 2006

We have now obtained permission from the Forestry Commission for the informal Bill Muller, memorial run in Cardinham Woods, near Bodmin.  The exact route has now been decided, avoiding forestry logging activities.  The date is Sunday 26th February at 10:30 a.m.  The course is almost exactly 9.5km (6 miles).  There are opportunities to do a shortened course, or multiple laps & other trails if you wish to get in a long run.  The emphasis is on informality.  It is not a race.  The terrain is varied, but mostly on the wider, not necessarily flatter!, forest tracks.

The start & finish will be in the car park, at the entrance to the woods, where there is parking space for about 40 cars.  There is a Forestry Commission woodland maintenance parking charge of £2.00 per car; so it would be sensible to share transport wherever possible.  There will be no other entry fee.

The tearoom in the car park has stocked up on tea bags, soft drinks and snacks and, if so inclined in February, there are several picnic tables around.  There are also male, female and disabled toilets in the car park.  This is an informal run without a permit, similar to the Brown Willey Run, so everyone is responsible for his or her own safety.  Likewise there are no prizes or other awards, apart from, perhaps, a memorial certificate.  Just turn up and think of Bill as you are run/walk around and enjoy the scenery.

This date for this event has been chosen, as it is the anniversary of Bill’s funeral, just up the road, so we would love to see as many of you as possible to honour the memory of a Great Guy.  Please Pass this on to anyone who you think may be interested and do not receive this email.
