Hi,
This is the start of a regular newsletter keeping you up to date with a few things. I hope that it is useful and if anyone wants to let other members know anything they can email me and I will include it in the next message.
Here are a few topical items:
The ECH handicap race will take place on 8th August at 6.30 from Merrymeet - it is approx 8 miles up Caradon Hill and back down again- and handicaps are worked out on your recent race times if applicable. If you are interested in taking part contact me and I will pass details on to get your handicap organised. There is also a 'Round the Hill Race' for juniors and those that don't want to go so far. Please contact me for further details. If you aren't running but can help with marshalling please let me know.
On the same night we will have a social gathering at The Village Inn, Roscarrick for all members which will include food which you will be required to make a small payment towards if you come. Its a friendy evening so if you don't want to run come and support those that do and then join them for food and drinks afterwards.
Our website has all the details of any events or our monthly training schedule as well as some amusing piccies of team members at events. Go to www.eastcornwallharriers.com and have a look on a regular basis and send any items to Mark Davidson to include.
We have a tug of war rope to sell so if anyone knows of a school or club that wants one let Revis or me know. It will be very reasonably priced to a good home.
The Club has a growing number of members interested in triathlons and cycling events. If anyone is interested please contact John McKinley (details on the website) and he will give you meeting and training times
The Cornish Marathon is taking place on 19th November 2006. This is an ECH race so please could everyone who is available on that day come and help at Millenium House, Pensilva. These events are hard to organise and they can't happen unless we have lots of people to do the various jobs. The Cornish is a very tough course and we all know how gratefull we are to see a friendly face when the going gets tough! so we need lots of you to help out. Even if you aren't available on the day you may be able to help with some of the preparation. Contact either Hilary Clatworthy or Jane if you think you can
assist in some way.
We have ordered some long sleeved tops for winter training and some fleeces are coming soon too! Please speak to Pat on a Tuesday evening to order them.On that note anyone who enters a race for ECH MUST wear team vests or tops, we as a Club will be reprimanded if it is noted that you don't or anyone qualifies for a team event and could result in disqualification. There were quite a few in the Plymouth Half Marathon who were not wearing vests and it was remarked upon so please contact Pat who always has some on a Tuesday evening.
Our new season of schools x-country will start in September. Last season was very successful with hundreds of children taking part. Revis and Oli Jones have done a marvelous job organising these with help from some other club members. If you can help in any way with the new season contact Revis once dates have been finalised.
Finally we have been asked to remind members that if you enter a race and
for any reason change your number with anyone else, i.e. because you can't
make it on the day, then you MUST let the race director know. If you fail to
do so and this is noticed then you may be barred from entering any races in
the future. It appears that they are clamping down on this so to avoid any disappointments please make sure you abide by the rules in future.
Thats all for now folks. Keep an eye on the website for any news and all the committees contact details are there if you want any info. Also regularly look for our new training schedule on there so even if you can't make it to Lux Park you can do it wherever you are!
Happy Running
Jane
Secretary of ECH
